A current junior at Perryville high school in Cecil county Maryland, Aleesha is highly involved in her school’s music program. She has been active in her high school marching band since the 7th grade, and currently holds the title of drum major. In years past, she has received the awards of Most Outstanding Freshman, and Most Outstanding sophomore for the marching band. She was selected as first chair flute for the All County Honor band both her freshman and junior years. She was the first of two flute players selected for the All County Full Orchestra her sophomore and junior years. She has performed at the Maryland Historical Theatre in Hagerstown, Maryland in 2008 and as a soloist during church services. Aleesha was recently nominated for the audition to be a Maryland Distinguished Scholar, and the audition will take place in June 2010. During the 2009-2010 school year, she was elected Prom chairman by the junior class at Perryville High school, and is a member of the chess club. In her free time Aleesha enjoys the company of her friends and playing softball, basketball, riding horses, and volunteering as a VBS counselor during the summer. She loves taking part in the school musicals, marching band competitions, and singing in the school’s Woman Select and Concert choirs. Her career ambition is to one day become an accomplished high school band director. Aleesha was named 2nd Runner Up at the 2011 Distinguished Young Women of Maryland Program.
